Necessary Ingredients

This recipe can be made with pasteurized milk as well as raw milk. If you choose to go raw, make sure you get it from a local farm or place that you trust.

Here’s what you need to get started:

  • Canning jars able to hold 20 cups of liquid
  • Two cups of Greek or raw yogurt
  • One gallon of raw milk

As you can see, you don’t need much to make tons of good, high-quality yogurt in your machine.

Don’t use a mini dehydrator for this recipe. You’ll need plenty of space to fit all of those canning jars.

Cooking the Recipe

You’ll have to do a bit of cooking before you get to the dehydrating part of the recipe. Luckily, it’s very easy and won’t take very long to complete.

Pour your cold milk into a large pot on your stove. Turn on the burner to low-medium heat.

While stirring continuously, heat the milk to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it reaches this temperature, turn off your stove.

Allow the milk to cool down to 120 degrees. At this point, slowly add your yogurt.

Your final product shouldn’t be too chunky but not too smooth. Now it’s time to prepare your mixture for the dehydrator.

Dehydrating Your Yogurt

Your mixture is ready to be dehydrated. Pour it into the canning jars and put the lids on when they’re full.

Set your machine to 110 degrees. Place all of your jars inside and let your machine work its magic.

Your dehydrator yogurt should be ready in about 12 to 18 hours. The longer you allow it to sit, the thicker your yogurt.

Raw milk yogurt will keep in the fridge for about three weeks. If you used pasteurized milk, it will keep for around two weeks.
